Normandy gites and cottages to rent: Lower Normandy
Throughout each and every year many thousands of holidaymakers rent gites in Normandy. Of the two regions that make up Normandy, Lower Normandy is perhaps the more popular. There are three Departments in this region: Calvados, Manche and Orne. And each offers an abundance of holiday activities for all ages and interests, whether it is a day spent walking, cycling, sailing or fishing; or just relaxing and taking in the peaceful atmosphere of rural France.
If it is the World War II D-Day beaches you wish to be close to, you will find there are many Calvados gites along that particular coastline to choose from. Similarly, a Manche gite will also be located near the coast. But, if being close to the sea is not important, or you prefer to be relxing in open, rolling countryside, an Orne gite is what you want.
Gites in Normandy tend to be renovated old farm buildings, such as farmhouses and barns. So, besides being great value for money, there really is a Normandy gite to suit all requirements, whether it is for a large family get together, a group of friends, or a romantic holiday for two.
