La Robine

We rent out the ground floor of our family home, a beautiful old stone house with stunning views overlooking the village of La Robine sur Galabre, near the town of Digne-les-Bains in the Alpes de Haute Provence (2.25 hours from Marseille and Nice).

La Belle Grange, a family gite in Aquitaine

La Belle Grange is our most spacious gite and is ideal for 2 families or one large family wanting some space. There is an open plan kitchen and dining area which has a very practical work island dividing the two. There is an electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher. There is a lounge area with TV (English and French channels)and DVD/CD player.

Also on the ground floor is a separate WC and a double bedroom with en suite shower room/WC. The bedroom has french doors leading out onto the private terrace.

The first floor has 2 further bedrooms, one double room and one family room having twin beds and a double sofabed. There is a family bathroom with bath and shower above, basin and WC.

There is a private terrace with BBQ, table and chairs and parking. There is also access to the stunning, enclosed, south-facing gardens which overlook the mountains. Here, there are steps leading to a sun deck access with steps into the shared pool.

Chez Tulipe: family gites near Riberac

The Old Walnut Farm, in an earlier century, had been two separate farms. Two of our gites, Valentin and Tulipe, are the original farm houses – taking their names from each of the families who farmed them. Our other gite, Lily, is a recently completed barn conversion.

Over the last four years the two original farm houses, Valentin and Tulip, have been carefully restored to retain their authentic rural Frenchness whilst giving them a light and airy feel. With Lily, our barn conversion, we have taken advantage of the extra space to provide a spacious gite suitable for those with larger families or parties.

Valentin, accomodating up to five plus babies, has three bedrooms on the first floor – one double, one twin single and a single. Downstairs is a living room, kitchen, family shower room and separate WC.

Tulipe, which can also accomodate up to five plus babies, is single storey, and has one double bedroom, one large triple bedroom, kitchen/living room, bathroom with bath/shower and separate WC.

Lily, accomodating up to seven plus babies, has three bedrooms – one double, one triple and one twin; a bathroom (with bath & WC) and a separate shower room all on the first floor. Adding to the feeling of space and freedom, downstairs is delightfully open plan with a living room, dining room, kitchen, and large hall. Another separate WC is reached via the boiler room.

Chasselas is a stone built, 19th Century vine-growers house with a walled garden and small barn set in a tranquil hamlet 15kms from Cognac and the river Charente.

It is south facing and soaks up the sun all the year round.
Downstairs are two spacious rooms; a kitchen/diner, with shower room and separate wc off, and a high ceilinged lounge with exposed beams and wood burner. The kitchen is fully equiped with a fridge/freezer, cooker with oven an four rings, microwave and the usual small appliances. Maison Chataigne

Maison Châtaigne is a charming house full of true Breton character and history, entered by a carved granite arched doorway, which was once the entrance to the dwelling area of a 16th Century single barn ‘fermette’. Whilst renovating this building the original barn entrance was discovered, which had been partially blocked up for at least 70 years to form a small window. This old doorway, complete with ‘eyebrow’ oak lintel and its original well-worn slate step, is now a lovely oak framed, full length double-glazed window in the Dining area. Maison Châtaigne overlooks the courtyard to the front and the gardens and woods to the rear.

The Lounge is a spacious yet warm and cosy room , with the original high-mantled oak and slate fireplace housing a wood-burning stove. A glazed door leads directly onto the sheltered terrace and garden at the back of the house, from which you can enjoy a view towards our small private woods. The window to the front and the partly glazed arched front door overlook the Courtyard, filling this room with sunshine for most of the day. As with all our properties, the Lounge has a good quality CD player, a selection of novels and other books, and a games cupboard with a range of indoor and outdoor games suitable for all ages.

The Kitchen/Dining area is separate from the Lounge, and enjoys views to both the rear and the front of the property. The whole of the ground floor has varnished wooden floorboards giving a warm appearance as well as being comfortable underfoot, and the oak and chestnut lintels are all from reclaimed timbers. The modern kitchen is equipped to a high standard, allowing you to fully explore the wonderful fresh foods readily available in Brittany, and the table comfortably seats six. A gas cooker with oven, washing machine, fridge, microwave and coffee machine are provided for your convenience.

Upstairs, Maison Châtaigne has two really good sized Bedrooms and a Bathroom. The second Bedroom can sleep 3 adults, all in full size single beds, and a baby’s cot can also be provided upon request. Like all of our properties the upstairs rooms have beautiful exposed oak beams, but in this house we believe them to be the original 400 year old A-frames, once the supports for a thatched roof. The colourfully tiled Bathroom is fitted with a powerful shower, WC and hand basin. There is also an electric razor point in the Bathroom for the gentlemen who feel obliged to shave when on holiday!

For your comfort and convenience we have provided modern fittings and appliances, but have furnished our properties with traditional Breton-style furnishings to retain the character of the houses. Outside the front of the house is the original Well. For your safety this is kept covered, but delightfully clear and fresh water can still be drawn from it.
