The gite is a traditional 19th-century stone-built house comprising a living-room with sofa, armchairs, tv/dvd and sound-system, heated by a wood-stove, leading up a couple of steps to the kitchen-diner, which has table, chairs, a traditionsl ‘cuisinière’ (wood/coal fired stove), gas-fired hob and oven, fridge-freezer, sink, and the usual kitchen cupboards and appliances, and is heated by an air/air heat pump.  There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed, and the other with two single beds.  Each has a wardrobe/storage for clothes, chairs and an electric heater.

There is a small shady courtyard at the rear of the house, furnished with table and chairs.

The shower-room, which also contains washbasin, w.c. and bidet, is situated at the side of the kitchen.

There are two bedrooms on the first floor, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. Additional folding and air-beds are available. Each room contains a wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables and chairs.

Outside there is a large private floodlit 12m heated swimming pool for your exclusive use, situated in a private walled south facing garden.

Your family friendly holiday rental sleeps 8-12 (maximum 8 adults and up to 4 extra children/babies) in four generous bedrooms with four bath/shower rooms. The arrangement of the house gives ample privacy for 2-3 family groups sharing. Bed linen, towels, and wi-fi broadband internet are all included for a stress free holiday. Baby equipment provided includes two cots (one wooden cot and one travel cot), stair gates top and bottom of stairs and two high chairs, potties, step stools and plastic picnic ware.

The large cooks kitchen is comprehensively equipped for a party of up to 12. We have plenty of large pans and serving dishes, a huge second chiller cabinet in addition to the fridge freezer, dish washer and washing machine. There are two tables in the kitchen so everyone can eat inside on the rare occasions the weather is not perfect (or too hot!)

This large (200 square metres) light, spacious and self catering house is situated in South-West France in the department of the Charente Maritime (part of the Poitou Charentes region) and is only 6km from the thriving market town of Aulnay. Situated in peaceful countryside dotted with sunflower fields and vineyards, the Charente Maritime offers long hot summers, short mild winters, clear skies and fresh unpolluted air. The quiet roads and gentle terrain are ideal for family cycle rides. Cognac is very convenient for a day out. The many and varied Atlantic beaches betwen La Rochelle and Royan are within easy reach.

Outside there are extensive lawns where the children can play, a small barbeque, peach trees, grape vines, flowers and swings in a separate play area. The private parking is off-road and enclosed.

There are plenty of things to do within 15 minutes drive from Videix. Ideal for walkers and cyclists, the many quiet roads and paths pass through beautiful countryside and lead to pretty villages. You can swim and sunbathe at Videix beaches or hire kayaks, pedalos, canoes, sailing boats and wind-surfs at Videix Lake. There are two riding stables nearby, an adventure play centre and many farms to visit. Fishing is a great local pastime, (fishing permits are cheap and easily available) and only half an hour away there are two golf courses with full facilities. There is something to please everyone in the family.

Les Trois Chênes is situated within the Parc Naturel du Perigord-Limousin in SW France on the edge of the hamlet of Videix, surrounded by the unspoilt countryside of Limousin; ideal for painting and sketching.

From Videix you can visit many historic towns: Rochechouart, Saint Junien,
